Tips from Widows

A pocket-sized manual consisting of tips, anecdotes and practical advice from women who have lived through the loss of a husband.

Book design, illustration

After the sudden death of Jan Robinson's husband Tony, she began to ask other widows for tips on how to deal with widowhood. Six months later, she realised she had the makings of a book.

The book's design is as pragmatic as its content. Each tip sits inside its own frame and a single
hand-drawn tree illustrates the centre pages. The minimalist layout uses the clean and neutral Neue Haas Grotesk (Christian Schwartz) for titles and the rounded sans-serif Omnes (Joshua Darden) for the copy.

Tips from Widows was published in the UK by Bloomsbury.
